PWRBlazer™ HLN 3142 and 3144 Node Receiver Modules Enable Cable Operators to Provide More Bandwidth to/from the Home
Harmonic Inc. (NASDAQ: HLIT) today announced enhancements to its PWRBlazer™ 3142 and 3144 1-GHz scalable nodes to facilitate the expansion of deep fiber networks. Today, more than four million homes are served by Harmonic's range of 1-GHz nodes, and the new high-power node receiver modules make it possible for cable operators to easily and more cost-effectively segment the hub-to-home section of the cable network. By reducing the number of homes or subscribers served per node, the effective bandwidth available to and from each home is increased. This is an essential requirement to support advanced services such as more high definition (HD) television, on-demand video and higher-speed Internet access.
Harmonic's PWRBlazer family of nodes and comprehensive range of broadband transmission solutions give operators greater choice and flexibility when planning and deploying their segmentation initiatives. The high levels of RF output provided by the PWRBlazer nodes enable operators to eliminate RF amplifiers in the plant and other active components in the last mile. The resulting passive coax network from the node to the home reduces operational expenditures by simplifying maintenance and enhancing reliability.
