NMX EIS Event Information Server

Harmonic’s EIS is a valuable extension to Harmonic’s NMX Digital Service Manager™ for CA systems. The EIS offers a powerful set of tools for management of the CA settings for even the most dynamic channel line-ups.

Standards-based conditional access (CA) solutions have resulted in the need for a centralized server that controls and synchronizes channel line-ups, compression parameters, PSI/SI tables and the CA system itself. The Event Information Server (EIS) is designed to manage all headend operations from a single point. The EIS is a mandatory component of a SimulCrypt solution – responsible for configuring multiple SimulCrypt synchronizer (SCS) modules with scrambling group information, as well as the ECM and EMM configurations that enable SimulCrypt scrambling.

In-depth integration with NMX saves time and simplifies administration by eliminating the need to manually synchronize the EIS with the management system. Service configurations are automatically imported from the NMX system. And, any changes made via the NMX system or the EIS are immediately synchronized to ensure seamless updates.

In case of a redundancy switchover, the EIS ensures that the CA settings will be copied over to the backup platform automatically, without the need for user intervention. This advanced capability is available for all redundancy schemes including 1:1, N:1 and N:M.
