ProStream™ 5000 File-Based Universal Transcoder

Based on market-leading Rhozet technology, the ProStream™ 5000 is a file-based universal transcoding device which converts between a wide variety of video formats. The ProStream 5000 is a 1-RU server with an unprecedented 16 processor cores, offering a very dense and powerful solution to any file-based transcoding problem. Managed through an intuitive interface, the ProStream 5000 can be used as a stand-alone transcoding system, or it can be configured in a cluster of machines for high-volume throughput. Harmonic’s MediaPrism™ Workflow Manager system can be used to manage the ProStream 5000 as part of a complete digital workflow solution for television, web, and mobile markets.

Supporting all major formats, the ProStream 5000 is continually updated to accommodate new formats and technologies. The ProStream 5000 can run as a standalone appliance or as part of a multi-node, fully automated rendering farm. As part of the transcode process, the ProStream 5000 handles a wide array of critical operations including SD/HD conversion, PAL/NTSC conversion, logo insertion, color space conversion, color correction, closed captioning, ad insertion and more.

Distributed enterprise-class transcoding with the ProStream 5000 provides maximum flexibility, futureproofing, and cross-vendor interoperability. The ProStream 5000 allows for automated processing of high volume transcoding tasks, managing job distribution, job prioritization, load balancing, FTP transfer, status monitoring, and job notification. The ProStream 5000 can be controlled remotely as well as programmatically using the fully-functional, XML-based, Carbon API.
