City of San Jose and Harmonic Celebrate Upcoming Corporate Headquarters Relocation

Thursday, January 14, 2010

At a ribbon cutting ceremony today, San José Mayor Chuck Reed and Harmonic Inc. (NASDAQ: HLIT) President and CEO Patrick Harshman will celebrate Harmonic’s upcoming corporate headquarters relocation to San José in August 2010. Mayor Reed, Dr. Harshman, and other representatives from the City of San José, the San José-Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce and Harmonic will participate in the 11:00 a.m. ceremony at the new facility located at 4300 North First Street.

Harmonic, a leading provider of video delivery solutions for video service operators worldwide, is moving from its current location in Sunnyvale, California to an 188,000 square foot facility to provide an outstanding work environment for its employees and to gain significant cost savings and business efficiencies. The company employs approximately 475 people in its Silicon Valley headquarters, and an additional 375 employees in locations around the world.

The building will accommodate Harmonic’s headquarters operations as well as a research and development center for its ground-breaking video delivery technologies. Exterior and interior construction and upgrades to the building will begin this month.

“The City of San José is pleased to welcome Harmonic to its new corporate headquarters facility,” said San José Mayor Chuck Reed. “As the capital of Silicon Valley and the world center of innovation, San José is committed to working at the speed of business, providing an outstanding environment for business and technology. We are delighted to see this shell turned into a vibrant corporate headquarters, anchoring a growing cluster of video-delivery technology companies located in North San Jose. We look forward to seeing Harmonic continue to grow and thrive in San José.”

“Harmonic has been located in Silicon Valley, an area home to a number of companies developing video technologies, since the company’s founding in 1988. We are excited about the move to our new San José facility, which will consolidate our local operations into a single building and provides the opportunity for us to design new labs and corporate offices,” said Patrick Harshman, President and CEO of Harmonic Inc. “The new San José location is convenient to many of our employees and also importantly offers ease of access to public transportation and major transportation corridors.”
