Summary

Course Description:

This eLearning knowledge base provides three different interactive simulation modes on how to setup and operate your Polaris Play: Playlist Control environment.

Course Objectives:

At the completion of the lesson, the students will learn how to configure Playlist Control in SystemManager, how to configure Polaris Play: MediaFetch in SystemManager to locate and transfer material, how to build a playlist using Polaris Play: Scheduler, and how to install, configure and operate the Polaris Play: Playlist software tool for monitoring and controlling on-air playlists.

Course Prerequisites:

Knowledge of the Spectrum environment and SystemManager, along with basic understanding of ingest of video for playout, timelines and playlists, Samba, FTP, general networking, Adobe Flash Professional, Adobe Creative Suite, graphic formats such as swf, flv, mp4, png, and bitmaps, and Flash player.

Lesson 1 – File System Folders

  • Locate IP Addresses
  • Locate User Name and Password
  • Access the File System from a Client
  • Access the File System from SystemManager
  • Map the File System to a Windows Network Drive
  • Define a Non-Standard Graphics Folder Name

Lesson 2 – Templates and Tools Package

  • Download the Software
  • Extract the Templates and Tools Package
  • Extract the Templates and Authoring Package
  • Install a ChannelPort Tool

Lesson 3 – Polaris Play: Playlist Control

  • Configure a Playout Channel
  • Enable Offline Mode
  • Add a New Material Type and Icon

Lesson 4 – Playlists and As-Run-Lists

  • Load a Playlist
  • Retrieve an As-Run-List

Lesson 5 – Polaris Play: MediaFetch

  • Configure MediaFetch

Lesson 6 – Polaris Play: Scheduler

  • Connect to Scheduler
  • Change scheduler Password
  • Select a Channel
  • Configure Default Event Values
  • View Playout Channel Properties
  • Create and Configure a Schedule
  • Select Event Blocks
  • Save a Schedule to a Subdirectory
  • Save a Schedule to a Different Channel
