NMX for Multiscreen (Lecture & Demo Only)



Course Description:

This is a lecture and demonstration only course which covers the basic configuration and management of multiscreen and Internet streaming delivery using Harmonic’s ProMedia transcoding, packaging, and publishing platforms. Configurations are performed using NMX and the standalone GUI interface.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this training, students will be able to configure and monitor an end-to-end multiscreen delivery system.

Course Prerequisites:

A basic knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, and video compression (MPEG-2, MPEG-4). Harmonic recommends that students have prior experience with NMX, complete the NMX Essentials training on Harmonic University, and/or attend Harmonic's NMX for Broadcast training.

  • Discuss multiscreen definition
  • Adaptive bitrate transcoding
  • Multiscreen delivery architectures
  • Overview of Harmonic multiscreen platforms
  • Common multiscreen streaming protocols

Module 2 – Multiscreen Platforms

  • ProMedia family of application servers
  • Platforms specifications and interfaces

Module 3 – ProMedia Software Suite

  • ProMedia software suite applications
  • Logging into the ProMedia web-based GUI
  • Web-based GUI navigation
  • Web-based GUI basic configuration

Module 4 – Configuring MBR Streams with NMX

  • Creating the MBR network group
  • Creating a new service configuration
  • Discovering the input source transport
  • Adding the multi-bitrate output transport
  • Configuring the multi-bitrate profiles

Module 5 – Configuring Packaging with NMX

  • Adding the output transport for packaging
  • Configuring the packaging and publishing profiles

Module 6 – Activating Services and Monitoring the Multiscreen System

  • Activating Services in NMX
  • Using NMX for monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Using the Web GUI for monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Generating a field report for technical issues
