Patrick Harshman has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Harmonic since May 2006. As CEO Patrick has driven Harmonic’s strategic re-positioning as the worldwide leader in video delivery infrastructure, and overseen the rapid expansion of the company’s customer base, international presence, and video product portfolio. He joined Harmonic in 1994 and prior to being appointed CEO held several other executive management positions for the company. Patrick earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.
Harold Covert joined Harmonic as Chief Financial Officer in November 2015 after serving on the company’s board of directors, heading up the audit committee, since 2007. From 2011 to 2014, Harold served as an independent business consultant and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Lumos Networks Corporation. Previously, Harold served as President and Chief Financial Officer at Silicon Image, Inc., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Openwave Systems Inc., and Chief Financial Officer at Fortinet Inc. Harold has also served on various boards, including JDS Uniphase Corporation, Solta Medical, Inc. and Silicon Image. Harold is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Lake Erie College and an M.B.A. from Cleveland State University.
Shahar Bar joined Harmonic in 1999 and was appointed Vice President of Corporate Development in June 2008. He is responsible for identifying, analyzing and pursuing new video markets and associated acquisition targets that complement and drive Harmonic’s worldwide growth. Shahar’s experience at Harmonic includes a variety of roles in engineering, marketing and management, including Director of Satellite and Broadcast markets and Director of On-Demand solutions. Prior to joining Harmonic, he held various positions at Rafael, a defense industry corporation, including Senior Project Manager and Engineering Manager. A Cum Laude graduate of the Technion, Israel’s Institute of Technology, Shahar holds a B.S. in Information Systems and an M.B.A.
Nimrod Ben-Natan joined Harmonic in 1997, was appointed Vice President of Product Marketing, Solutions and Strategy in 2007, and became Senior Vice President and General Manager, Cable Products in 2012. Nimrod initially joined Harmonic as a software engineer to design and develop its first-generation video transmission platform, and in 2000 transitioned to product marketing, solutions and strategy to develop the digital video cable segment. From 1993 to 1997, he was employed at Orckit Communications Ltd., a digital subscriber line developer. Previously, Nimrod worked on wireless communications systems while he was with the Israeli Defense Signal Corps. He holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University.
Charles Bonasera joined Harmonic in October 2006 as Vice President, Operations. From 2005 to 2006, he was Senior Director of Global Sourcing at Solectron, a leading global provider of electronics manufacturing services and supply chain solutions. From 1999 to 2005, Charles held various key positions in outsourcing strategies, commodity management, supply management and supply chain development at Sun Microsystems.
Timothy Chu joined Harmonic in October 2013 as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, and was appointed General Counsel and Senior Vice President, Human Resources, in January 2016. Prior to joining Harmonic, he served as General Counsel and Vice President, Administration at Phoenix Technologies Ltd., a core systems and application software company that he helped take private through a sale to Marlin Equity Partners. Previously, Tim served as Director of Corporate Legal Affairs and Assistant Secretary at Solectron Corporation, a Fortune 500 electronics manufacturing services company that was sold to Flextronics for $3.6 billion. Tim began his legal career as an associate in the New York and Helsinki offices of White & Case LLP before joining Venture Law Group in Silicon Valley as a senior attorney. Tim earned his B.A. in Economics and Chinese Literature and Language from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from the University of Michigan.
Alex Derecho was named Senior Vice President, Global Service & Support at Harmonic in April 2015. In this role, Alex oversees an array of service and support programs, including system design, service deployment, technical support and professional services, which customers in 110 countries across six continents rely on to maintain media infrastructures at every level of complexity. Prior to this position, Alex was Senior Vice President of customer services at BigBand Networks and Vice President of operations at Network Physics. Previously, he served as Vice President of global services and support at Harmonic and was the Senior Director of worldwide sales and services at DiviCom before the company was acquired by Harmonic. Alex holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and an M.S. in Technology Management from Pepperdine University.
Neven Haltmayer joined Harmonic in December of 2002 and was appointed Vice President of Research and Development in November 2005. Prior to this, Neven was Director of Engineering of Compression Systems and managed the development of Harmonic’s MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoder and Electra product lines. Prior to joining Harmonic, he held various key positions at Canal Plus Technologies, including Vice President of Engineering, and was responsible for system integration and development of STB middleware and interactive applications. Neven earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Zagreb, Croatia.
Bart Spriester joined Harmonic in September 2014 as Senior Vice President, Video Products, where he leads the company’s Video Product Management and Solutions organization. Bart has over 20 years of experience in the media and video delivery infrastructure industry. Prior to joining Harmonic, he served as Executive Vice President and General Manager, North America, and CTO for Encompass Digital Media, where he helped to drive the company’s transformation into the leading provider of services to global media companies. Previously, Bart held several executive positions at Cisco Systems, most recently as Vice President and General Manager for Digital Media Networks, a business unit focused on developing solutions for service provider and media companies worldwide. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois and his M.S. in Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Bart is an industry author of several publications and a noted engineer with several patents related to video delivery infrastructure.
