Harmonic’s Converged Broadband Solution Supports Internet Provider’s Expansion Efforts

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Sept. 29, 2025 — Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT) and Comcast are joining forces to expand fiber broadband access as the Internet provider continues to expand its network into new markets. In 2024, Comcast expanded its network to more than one million new locations, with more than 1.2 million new locations planned by the end of 2025. Comcast is leveraging Harmonic’s industry-leading cOS™ virtualized broadband platform and network edge devices as an integral part of its efforts to deliver multi-gigabit symmetrical broadband with low-lag to residential and commercial customers.

“We are rapidly expanding our network to new areas and by leveraging Harmonic’s cOS platform provides us with the flexibility to use fiber or extend our existing DOCSIS-based infrastructure to deliver critical connectivity to homes and businesses,” said Dan Rice, vice president of Access Engineering, Comcast. “Introducing multi-gigabit Internet with low lag will open up a new world of opportunities for these areas and our ecosystem of partners like Harmonic is instrumental in making that possible.”

The expansion of Comcast’s network enables rapid and cost-effective deployment of fiber-based services that seamlessly co-exist with coax-based offerings on the same virtualized broadband platform supporting cost-effective fiber rollouts to rural communities, including through BEAD-funded projects. Harmonic’s cOS platform provides Comcast with a converged solution for multi-gigabit services, simplifying operations, reducing costs and enabling the strategic deployment of the node-based remote switches and optical line terminals (OLT) that connect customers to Comcast’s network. These innovations are supported by Harmonic’s virtual Broadband Network Gateway (vBNG) and Jetty Remote Switch with Fin Remote OLT in Harmonic’s Ripple DAA node.

“Our partnership with Comcast is consistently driving industry progress. Comcast and Harmonic are leading the broadband industry implementing new solutions that allow networks to be expanded quickly and at scale,” said Asaf Matatyaou, senior vice president, product at Harmonic. “Together, we are demonstrating how DOCSIS and fiber can seamlessly co-exist on a virtualized broadband platform to deliver multi-gigabit speeds, ultra-low latency and exceptionally reliable connectivity to more communities.”

Harmonic is the market share leader in cable broadband equipment, virtual CMTS and DAA, according to Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks and data center IT industries. The company’s market-leading cOS platform powers next-gen broadband services through more than 35 million customer CPE devices worldwide for leading operators in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Harmonic will demonstrate the latest advancements to the cOS virtualized broadband platform at SCTE TechExpo25, Sept. 29-Oct.1 in booth H1065.
